SOMUSAR JOINS SYMBIAN AFFILIATE PARTNER PROGRAM
MILAN, ITALY, March 31, 2005 - SO.MUS.AR. s.a.s. (Somusar) announced
today it has joined
the Symbian Affiliate Partner Program to support the growing
market for smartphones based on Symbian OS(TM). As
an Affiliate Partner, Somusar is extending its technology
and services for the automated production of software to the Symbian
OS ecosystem. Symbian develops and licenses Symbian OS, the global industry
standard operating system for smartphones, to the world's leading handset
manufacturers including Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, Siemens and Sony Ericsson.
"This partnership reflects our commitment to the market of highly automated
software development tools and our intent to build upon our strategy
in the mobile communications sector," said Francesco
Aliverti-Piuri, Managing Partner & Co-founder, Somusar. "By becoming a
Symbian Affiliate Partner, we can further expand our portfolio of
software generators and strengthen our relationships with users, application
developers, mobile phone manufacturers and network operators. "
"The smartphone business is rapidly growing and Symbian
OS is at the heart of it. Symbian's policy of openness
underpins industry models that create value in the after market and
Somusar is delighted to be a member of the Affiliate Partner Program."
Somusar builds custom software "machines"
that produce software. Its products and services contribute to improve
the productivity and consistency in software and documentation
development by enabling the high-speed generation of virtually any
type of software from concise textual models.
Somusar's software generators
are tailored to the platforms, guidelines, and best practices
particular to each software development context. These generators rapidly
and accurately produce the repetitive parts of software that
developers and software authors would otherwise write by means
of costly and error-prone copy-paste-edit or click-drag-drop cycles.
Developers and authors thus gain time for more creative activities,
reducing time-to-market and improving overall software quality.
The foundation for the custom generators
is provided by the Somusar/Software Production Machine
(in short, SoProMach), a generalized, language-neutral,
multiplatform software source code and documentation
generator, capable of accepting several input formats, such as XML,
CSV, plain text, and Sisendel EF (entity files), a new textual design
language for describing multilayer software entities. Somusar/SoProMach
is currently the only software generator based on new technology and
languages expressly designed for generation purposes.
"Smart software generators are development
tools that add real value to developers and authors of smartphone
software based on Symbian OS," said Phil Spencer, Global Manager, Affiliate
Partner Program, Symbian. "We are pleased to have Somusar join the Symbian
Affiliate Partner Program and bring with them their experience of automated
software production and the capacity to provide innovative tools for
Symbian OS smartphone developers worldwide."

of Symbian OS phones to users. Benefits include the exclusive use of
the program logo, a dedicated on-line partner directory, access to
key market channels and invitations to participate in feedback sessions,
development projects, testing, and publishing programs - helping to
